Perfect-ID recognized as an official supplier of biometric solutions for Belgian ports

Perfect-ID proudly announces that it has received recognition from Minister Paul Van Tigchelt, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Justice and the North Sea, to provide biometric solutions to Belgian ports and port companies. This marks a significant milestone for the growth and innovation of biometric security in the maritime sector.

The recognition of Perfect-ID demonstrates the reliability and effectiveness of the advanced palm vein biometrics solutions under the brand name Palmki. Palmki's palm vein biometrics is an authentication and security solution based on the unique pattern of veins in an individual's palm. By using this innovative technology, ports and port companies can maintain a high level of security while respecting user privacy.

Advantages over traditional methods

Biometric access control offers numerous advantages over traditional methods such as badges and access codes. Firstly, Palmki provides an extremely accurate and reliable form of identification, significantly reducing the risk of unauthorized access to port areas. Furthermore, it eliminates the possibility of misuse through lost, stolen, or passed-on badges, thereby strengthening the overall security of port infrastructure.

Biometric palm authentication

Compared to other biometric solutions, Palmki offers superior accuracy of 99.9999%. For illustration, Face ID, a commonly used facial recognition technology, offers an accuracy of about 96%. Moreover, Palmki's process is easy and very comfortable, with users simply holding their hand in front of the sensor, resulting in quick identification. What makes Palmki even more reliable and distinctive is that it scans the inside of the palm, literally the internal structure, rather than the external surface, significantly reducing the chances of forgery. This method currently makes it impossible to replicate a palm, unlike fingerprints or facial recognition. Additionally, the vein pattern of the palm is unique to each individual, even identical twins, which is not always the case with facial recognition. Finally, the technology requires a living hand with blood flow, making it impossible to fake identification with a photo or other counterfeit material.

Marc Strackx, Owner and Director of Perfect-ID: “Perfect-ID collaborates with Fujitsu and Fulcrum Biometrics. With the support of these partners, Perfect-ID has been able to develop the highly secure and comfortable Palmki technology. We are very pleased with the official recognition of Perfect-ID as a supplier of biometric services to ports and port companies. This recognition comes at a crucial time, given the increasing pressure on ports to strengthen their security measures. With our advanced biometric solutions, we are committed to contributing to a safer and more efficient maritime environment for all stakeholders.”
